Green Conservation and Efficiency Initiatives

One way to contribute to environmental sustainability is to reduce energy consumption. In the past two years, TRTS leadership has made investments in our infrastructure to:

  • Install energy efficient thermostats to optimize HVAC performance.
  • Replace legacy lighting with new energy efficient bulbs.
  • Implement motion detection switches to turn off lights when they are not needed.
  • Accelerated replacement of legacy computer monitors with new energy-efficient flat panel monitors.

And that’s just the beginning.

From a strategic perspective, we have partnered with a leading energy consulting firm (located right here in Northeastern PA) to help us monitor our energy consumption practices and plan for our energy needs in the coming deregulation environment. We have also engaged an environmental efficiency consultant to help us evaluate alternative energy options for our future.

On a tactical level, we are currently evaluating network management software to allow us to “centrally turn off” computers that would otherwise have been left on overnight or over the weekend – we’ll share those results in a coming “I Wish Someone Told Me" posting on our Pros Who Know webpage.
